Dan just left Aix-en-Provence, where he spent quite a bit of time writing and recording new music; at the time of our interview, he was in the Netherlands.Dan Coyle was a breeze to interview. He’s one of the friendliest, most easygoing folks I’ve had the pleasure to meet online, and I can’t wait to chat with him again when his album drops in the fall. (Hint hint, Dan!) His music is warm, graceful, and just a little bit wistful — the perfect soundtrack to these long, slow summer days. He’ll be releasingJune 13, 2011 “In The Middle Of Nowhere” We’ve been traveling for over four months now from London to Berlin, Dortmund, Hannover, Kiel, Prague, Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Amsterdam, and now Groningen; yes, Groningen. It’s in The Netherlands and you’ve probably never heard of it. After traveling from city to city, we’ve finally landed in no-mans-land. Groningen does have a University and a red light district, but that’s about the only thing of man-made significance out here. There are trees, fields, goats, horses, lambs, pigs, cows, alfalfa, and so-on, for as far as the eye can see. We came here to get out of the city for a few weeks, and I wanted to finish up songs for the new album, so they would be ready to record in August; mission complete! I did get the chance to play a couple of nice little house concerts while being here. The people were very |
